1. What is the Nazareth Workshop?
It is a retreat workshop about the marriage and family. In this workshop, participants will pray, study, share and exchange their experience about marriage and family life, the way to live harmoniously, the concept of responsibility, as well as the role of husband and wife in the marriage and family life. Also, they will learn the effective method of education to deal with children. Specially, it is time that husband and wife to enjoy one another’s company, to laugh, and to regain insights into the beauty and value of love and marriage life.
2. Why do I need to participate?
– To discover values of the marriage
Marriage is a sublime and marvelous vocation. To sufficiently understand this vocation one cannot base on common knowledge and individual experience, since the Catholic marriage is a vocation, a sacrament. It is not a commitment, promise or a contract between a man and a woman. Obviously, its value and greatness must be discovered under the light of knowledge, experience, and concise and lucid overview of this vocation. Also, it must be discovered daily under the light of the word of God, love concealed in the Holy Eucharist and the Church teaching.
The marriage life, however, is the life of two individuals and two hearts. Its value must be characterized by psychology and maturity. Today, 50% of the couples ending their marriage by divorce show that most of them do not recognize and respect this vocation.
Today, the professionalism and expertise are heightened on all careers, but it seems that the most important career which was left behind without consideration, training, and lack of education is career of husband, wife, father, and mother. Thus, the purpose of the Nazareth Workshop is to help you to perceive and to bring to light the positive aspects and the true values of marriage to improve this life.
– To maintain and improve the happiness
Catholic marriage is springed from God, whom John defined as love: “God is love” (1 Jn 2:8). One may read his love in The Old and New Testaments. By his love, God created man in his image; in his divine image he created them male and female (cf Gn 1:27). He brought woman to man to become husband and wife. He blessed them and bestowed his grace and his love on them so they may live a happy life. Since Catholic marriage is a sacrament, one needs the light of the living word of God, the sacrificial sample of Eucharist, and the Church teaching to discover its richness and value.
In The Nazareth Workshop, we will provide a cosy and friendly opportunity for participants to help them experience happiness and peace that come from the marriage relationship. Also, it helps husband understand and recognize the basic differences in his wife psychologically, physically, sexually, spiritually to love, honor, and appreciate her as she is and vice versa. With this reciprocal understanding and respect, husband and wife can walk side by side, hand on hand joyfully.
– Learn how to educate their children
Today, education becomes a big concern for the parents. Unfortunately, most of young parents seem to lack experience, knowledge, and learning in the area of education. At The Nazareth Workshop, parents will learn excellent and updated methods to understand and educate their children. Specially, they will learn how to deal with teenagers.
3. I’m too old for The Nazareth Workshop?
No. Love is never old. It is necessary to learn that marriage life is a long journey. Husband and wife hand on hand walk on this journey. Consequently, they will experience its happiness and sadness. If you have a happy family, your participation will become a good example for young couples, and encourage them to participate the Nazareth Workshop in future.
4. I’m too busy. I don’t have time!
Yes! Everybody is busy, since we have many things to do, but this business can be paid off by your happiness and peace in 48 hours as husband and wife stay closely together. Nazareth Workshop is like a special date for a husband and wife. It is time to laugh, to smile, to enjoy one another’s company and friendship in order to gain insight into your marriage relationship. It is time to get to know other couples and enjoy their friendship. There is always time for what we consider important.
5. What is the condition for participation the Nazareth Workshop?
It is easy and very simple. What you need is to invite your spouse to spend 48 hours with you on a weekend. We encourage the couple participate together. However, in a very special case, you may go by yourself.
